Get together meeting Dec 21 Delhi: The golden moment for everybody who participated

Over 120 Bishnupriya Manipuri living in Delhi and NCR region participated in the get-together meeting held at Najafgarh on 21 December, 2008. It was a complete gaga on the part of the youngsters, parents, children since they all had a nice time spending with their own people on a grand picturesque location, and in a chilly winter season of Delhi.

It was a success with its sheer number of participants. More than that it came as an opportunity for all people to have countenance with their friends, relatives and to just spend golden moments with others.

Drop in temperature didn’t deter people from participating in the programme. They came from every pockets of Delhi and NCR region. People came from Patparganj, Dilshad Garden, Laxmi Nagar, Lado Sarai, Sagarpur, Manglapuri , CR Park, Shyam Vihar, Dwarka etcetra areas. In these areas concentration of Bishnupriya Manipuris show a sizable population.

People braved the foggy day to be in association with their own people. And that was something very visible in the faces of the people. They were all in a festive mood to celebrate the event of togetherness. Youngsters were seen playing football. And ladies busy in talking and cooking.

In the space-starved city like Delhi, the spacious farm land, equipped with all facilities was appreciated by everybody. Venue of the event - the Jai Ambe Farms, was something that everybody gave their heart upon. It was a green, spacious, decorated venue.

By 11 a.m all were present in the venue. The day started with breakfast and it ended with the lunch.

As per the agenda of the get-together meeting, the Mahila Samity was formed. Mrs. Lakshi Moni Rakumari was given the post of President, Nandita Sinha as Vice president, General Secretary Arti Sinha, Coordinator Tripti Sinha and executive members - Anjali Sinha and Rebita Singh.

    The match was fun...Where can u see two persons having an age difference of around 20 yrs playing side by side...That's really rare...

    The venue, logistics arrangements were superb...I'm looking forward to the next one coming...

    Oh yeah Tridip. Was fun.
    It was 22 a side football match!
    I was running like a maniac though. Was the ifrst time I played soccer.

    To break the tradition of being a compliment/appreciation miser, let me give the credit where its due.

    This get together was almost single handedly arranged by
    Mr. Jishnu Sinha.

Bishnupriya Manipuri Development Council: Few Pertinent Questions (Part I)

By Rebati Mohan Sinha On last 25th March 2010 there was an announcement in the floor of the House that the Government of Assam has agreed on principle to form three separate Social Economic Development Councils for Bishnupriya Manipuri, Nath Yugi and Maimal. And now the Cabinet Committee has given its nod. It will be placed in the House (not yet placed) and once it is passed, then a Ministerial Committee would consult the stake holders i.e. these three communities, regarding their aspirations and would send its recommendation accordingly to the Central Government for further action within the next two months.
