“BAITAAMIN” – Bishnupriya Manipuri Comedy Film releasing on 3rd October, 2010

By Pratibha Sinha, Guwahati A full-length entertaining film “BAITAAMIN” is coming up for the public on 3rd October, 2010. “BAITAAMIN” is the first Bishnupriya Manipuri Comedy film (duration 2:50 hrs.) which will be released and screened by Chitrangada Musical Banner (CMB) at Silpagram, Panjabari (Guwahati) at 10:30 am on 3rd October, 2010. As one can guess from the title of the film “BAITAAMIN”, which is mispronunciation of ‘vitamin’ by village folks, is a complete entertainment story set in the background of villagers’ interaction with different languages in their day-to-day activities. The film is packaged with a tickling the bone story directed by Hirendra Sinha. He has been assisted by Samar Sinha and Kanan Kishore Sinha (as Production Manager). L.L Production releases music albums and books

By Pratibha Sinha, Guwahati A day before the Sri Sri Jagannath’s Ratha Yatra festival on July 12, 2010, L.L Production released a devotional video ‘ Dasho Avatar ’, a Bishnupriya Manipuri western music album ‘ Gomnei ’, a collection of poems ‘ Hridir Bina ’, and a three act play ‘ Gaj Tal ’. The songs in the ‘ Dasho Avatar ’ DVD are in the voice of Tushar Arjun and Prabhas Kanti Sinha. It contains original composition of Bhakta Kavi Jayadeva’s “ Praloy Payodhi Jole ” and “ Shrito Kamal ” along with six other composed “ jaidev ” songs in Bishnupriya Manipuri by Prabhas Kanti Sinha and Hirendra Sinha. Pramila Sinha(Punu) is the Producer of the album, directed by Hirendra Sinha and Project concept by Prabhas Kanti Sinha. Instruments played by Gopinath Sinha (Mridango) and Chandan Saikia (Flute). Rodali Award 2009-10 presented to Ravi Sinha

By Pratibha Sinha, Guwahati Actor Ravi Sinha (Asutosh) was awarded the prestigious Rodali Special Award 2009-2010 for his role “Captain Kumardhane” in the Bishnupriya Manipuri VCD film Paritraan produced by L.L.Production. Prafulla Kumar Mohanta, former Chief Minister of Assam was the Chief Guest of the award function. Other guests who graced the award ceremony were Assamese film director Munna Ahmed, Chetana Das, Angurlata, Akash Deep, Vranti Medhi, Madhurima Chowdhury and many others. Total 100 awardees were presented with the Rodali Award under different categories viz. VCD, Theatre, Assamese TV Serial and Special Award. The ‘Best VCD’ award went to Assamese VCD “ Aimoni ”,  “Best Singer” to Zubeen Garg,  ‘Best Actor’ to Ravi Sharma. Bhajan Audio Album Released

The album was released by Sunder Mukherjee, Working President/Central Committee of Mahasabha from Tripura along with Prabhas Kanti Sinha and Asutosh Sinha(Ravi). The producer of the album is Promila Sinha(Punu) and project planned and arranged by Prabhas Kanti Sinha. PREMOR ITHOU to release March end

On November 13, 2009, I got a chance to meet Meera Sinha, a talented singer from our neighbourhood country Bangladesh. She had come to Guwahati for recording some Bhajans in Bishnupriya Manipuri. I went to meet her at her residence in Christian basti and accompanied her to the recording studio at Kalakshetra in Guwahati. On the way to the studio, we had a long conversation. I expressed my curiosity to know about her in detail and about the country Bangladesh, particularly, the Bishnupriya Manipuri people living there. It was a mesmerizing evening for all Guwahatians. Ghazal singer Sushanta Sinha’s soulful voice made their evening immemorable. In a programme named Bhajan Sandhya, the talented artist presented an hour-long solo performance, organized by Suhrid Sangha in Guwahati on September 29, 2009. Bijoy Agarwal, the President of Suhrid Sangha Puja Committee, inaugurated the programme by felicitating the young artist with traditional Phulan Gamcha. To enjoy this special evening, hordes of people visited the programme among which many Bishnupriya families also participated. His elimination from the programme seems has taken such a toll that he is no more visible in the tinsel world of television.
