Can Bishnupriya Manipuri Online become a "product"?

RK Rishikesh Sinha Ramlal Sinha in his article proposed a model for the vitalization of Bishnupriya Manipuri language, art and culture. He wrote about media vacuum which is inflicting the community; in order to create one he proposed a profitable tie-up between litterateurs/artists and the industrialists. He said that “the Bishnupriya Manipuris' is a virgin market that, if tapped in the right way, can pay a huge dividend”. Adding to it, one thing that he mentioned is very much futuristic, especially at this time — equalizing Bishnupriya Manipuri newspapers or magazines as “products”. So, whoever ventures into filling up the vacuum has to tread the road with care, with the “product” concept in mind and soul. Equating “Market” with “Bishnupriya Manipuri”, today one can take it as a joke. But, who knows, these two stuff could become one; consequently creating a self-sustaining platform for the betterment of the Bishnupriya Manipuri people. However, media histor...

An unexpected surprise

Personal Jottings By RK Rishikesh Sinha Surprises come in many hues. While maintaining this blog for five years, I have encountered lot of astonishing surprises from the readers. Some readers take me as an old person. as a retired person. as a person having a wide network of contacts. as a person who knows each and every Bishnupriya Manipuri people. as a person who is an expert in the subaltern subject, the Bishnupriya Manipuri. with surprise that I am the person who maintains this blog!  And some, do not even want to acknowledge me as a person who does many invisible work behind this blog. All the above four points are wrong. I am not old and retired. Neither I am an all-know person nor I know each and every individual. About the fifth point, ‘Yes’ I would like to understand it. Besides this, I didn’t know that there was another surprise stored for me. How it was unfurled? Recently I got introduced to a boy who recently came from Guwahati to Delhi. As soon as he ...

You’re receiving SMS from bishnupriyamanipuri.com

The blog has acquired the URL http://www.bishnupriyamanipuri.com/ yesterday exactly at 8.30 pm. Now onwards, readers can directly type in the browser address bar “bishnupriyamanipuri.com” and visit here. However, special care has been taken to those who will be visiting the earlier “http://bishnupriyamanipuri.blogspot.com/” web domain. They will be seeing the same. There is no hair-separation between the two domains. It is to be mentioned that it is just a change of web address/ URL; there is no change of its functioning. The heart and soul of the “blog” remains the same. Let me reiterate – there has been no change of contents between the two domains. It has been done primarily after getting analytics feedback of the blog which shows a population of users is searching with “Bishnupriya manipuri .com”. It is simply to position the blog so that they don’t remain away from the blog. Keep on reading! Thanks Please subscribe to the blog: receive email. Get Free alert on your mobile! Click ...

Bury the word “BM” for Bishnupriya Manipuri

By RK Rishikesh Sinha, New Delhi We all agree the name of our community is “Bishnupriya Manipuri” and NOT “BM”, “bm” or “B.M”, the style of format that we usually see, writes and comments in this blog. Writers submitting articles here in the blog know how I fall on this word. I comb this word and delete it mercilessly. Understanding – the word is wrong, and it does not exists – came too late to me. Let me confess to all of you. If you have gone down to the blog and had read previous articles, you would have found the abbreviation was used very frequently. But it doesn’t exist now; the abbreviation has been deleted from all the articles in the blog. The exercise was massive, but it was done. If you still find the abbreviation (don’t consider in comments) do send me the link. It will be changed. Allowing the abbreviation to remain in the blog, and its repetitive usage either in writing, reading and in our conversation – time will come we may start believing the name of the community is “...

Let us help each other

By RK Rishikesh Sinha, New Delhi Two weeks back, I received a call from an insurance agent. Like those who hate to receive calls in office time, I said, “I don’t need policy-wolicy, if possible give me money, avail me money”.  The person at the other end knowing I am not the nut which he can crack, in a polite voice said, “Sir, are you from Assam, are you Manipuri?” Hearing his query, my voice iced and I said “Yes”. He immediately transferred the call to a person. He said, “Are you Manipuri”. “Yes, I am Bishnupriya Manipuri”. “Dada…”. The policy agent came out to be a Bishnupriya Manipuri.  Not wasting his time, I said “Don’t worry, you come to my home but don’t talk to me in office, you drop in my home with all papers and documents”.  He dropped in my home on this Sunday.  Now what is the point of telling all this here in the blog. What I have done on this Sunday? There is a point. First, the 20 something age Bishnupriya Manipuri boy was not in financial terms literate. Second, we bot...

Definitely, we will take a big leap

By RK Rishikesh Sinha, New Delhi With the launching of the site bishnupriyamanipuri.org by my friends – BN Sinha, Jyotirmoy Sinha and Henryy Sinha – if there is one person who is eternally happy, it is me. The news of the launch swept me like a fatherly figure. Bit perturbed on the questions – how do they will carry out the job, will they be responsible to the undertaken job, are they equipped enough to manage a site which seems simple from front but it is not - were barrage of emotions consuming me? After all they started their journey of writing from this blog. You know this.  But, at the bottom of the turbulence was lying extreme contentment that the very idea of establishing this blog has started showing. Now, people are discussing, talking, collaborating, and mining information about the community. That’s what the blog wished for - transforming the Bishnupriya Manipuri tag to become a living brand. Also, to trigger in the so-called urban Bishnupriya Manipuri people, who were just ...

Need to create an ocean of information on Bishnupriya Manipuri is urgently required

By RK Rishikesh Sinha, New Delhi Whatever ‘sprinkle’ success that the blog has achieved so far is only due to readers. It is due to their participation and support by religiously dropping on this blog day after day (though disappointed many times not finding any new updates), from many slew of recipes, that has worked wonder in the success of the blog. However, with the increased volume of readers, their queries have also shown a jump. They are searching, believing that the blog would fetch out anything related to their queries, unfortunately are not being addressed. Thus it has become a challenge to quench the readers’ quests. They are searching ‘ban on mobile in Bishnupriya Manipuri villages’, ‘great personalities of Bishnupriya Manipuri’ etcetera on the blog. The blog fails to deliver anything concrete to these searches. Hereby I request owners of the Bishnupriya Manipuri websites/ blogs like http://manipuriblog.blogspot.com, www.bishnupriya-manipuri.org/, www.manipuri.freeservers....

Mohanpur becomes first village to connect to this blog

It would have been called a partial failed attempt had this blog been only limited to netizens, who can access this through internet. But it came as a sweet jolt when Google came out with the SMS service in India. And this blog was fast enough to catch with the latest technology and use it for the maximize coverage of its readership. The blog is far ahead in its technology usage and service that it provides to its devoted readers, be it is in front of email subscription, above 100’s of readers are getting updates from this blog.
