Thanks to BM DC Contributors

Views of the readers were sought here on what do they think about BMDC. Do you think BMDC will be a milestone to meet the aspirations of the people? Name: slakshmindra, Guwahati [Yes] I would say "yes", of course. It signifies our political entity in a multilingual state which is infested with corruption, extremism and a communal divide. Name: Jishu/Bangalore [Yes] Reading the few comments on BM DC, if not anything, I share the apprehension of many here – “…the intended purpose of BM DC may get lost in the din of initial euphoria or the lure of money into its coffers !” However, to be fair, it is definitely a progressive development for the community and one hopes, the rancor among many of the community members do pave its way towards a constructive debate. A debate that looks into a concrete framework for the BM DC with adequate controls so that the whims and fancies of a select group of individuals don’t become the rule. In simple words, the council should be a f...

BMDC will fail due to bad 'adjectives'

Views of the readers were sought here on what do they think about BMDC. Do you think BMDC will be a milestone to meet the aspirations of the people? Name: Sukumar Sinha, Silchar. [No] Because Bishnupriyas [Manipuris] are extremely selfish, cunning, rowdy, non-coperative, egoist, indsicipline and no love for their own society, prone to gaining false fame, propagonda and publicity and lastly being extremely corrupt the intention of creating the BMDC will be failed and the office bearers will resort to blame game at the end. The poor docile will remain hankering for basic needs.

'Yes' BMDC is a milestone

Views of the readers were sought here on what do they think about BMDC. Do you think BMDC will be a milestone to meet the aspirations of the people? Name : Anonymous, UAE, [Yes] Its a great achievement for the community to channelize Govt money to develop the culture and economic status at the grass-root level. But at the same time, there are apprehensions as well......if the money siphoned off to some pockets .... Name : k m sinha, Dubai / Ghy, UAE, [Can't Say] Theoritically, it should be "Yes", but practically, we shall have wait and see.  It is too early to comment.  Now, why do I think so?  If intentions are good, then impossible thing can be made possible.  However, I have some reservations about the integrity and intentions of the people on the steering wheel.   Name : Sanjib Sinha/GUWAHATI [Yes] Why not? The BMDC must be the milestone to meet the aspirations of the people because no other organisation can speak or work only for BISHNUPRIYA M...

By Suroshree Sinha, Bangalore A lot of people take pride now to be called a Bishnupriya Manipuri. Thanks to the efforts to a lot of people, now we interact, write about our free opinions, and take pride, saying that yes we belong to a community which is growing. How many of you know the different type of Lokeis which exist among us. Frankly I know very few. The interesting fact is that for every small Lokeis that exist there is a small story behind it. Let’s all come together and let everyone else know about the Lokeis we belong, at the end of the week we would collate how many Lokeis exist. So go, ask, research, dig up stories that give your Lokei that special name, we would know how many different flowers make this garland called “Bishnupriya Manipuri”. Indeed, We are Backward

Are We Backward? People's Response on the Backwardness issue Here is the last response by Tridiv Sinha (New Delhi) and Suroshree Sinha (Bangalore) on the survey "Is the Bishnupriya Manipuri a backward community?". Socially: No Economically: No Politically: Yes Educationally: No We are under represented in Class I government services: Yes Views (Tridiv Sinha): To think of ourselves as backward would be an understatement. Socially, I haven't heard of slums of Bishnupriya Manipuri people in any part of the world. Economically, I haven't seen a beggar. Almost all of our villagers are literate, if not highly educated. We are minority in number, that is why we are not widely known. Minority in number has nothing to do with being backward. No Arjunness Will Help

Are We Backward? Here is the fifth response by Debajyoti Sinha on the survey " Is the Bishnupriya Manipuri a backward community? ". Socially: Yes Economically: Yes Politically: Yes Educationally: Yes We are under represented in Class I government services: Yes Views: I think social backwardness is the product of economic, educational and political backwardness. Social progress is not measured in terms of one's "Arjunness", how great we were, but by economic, political and educational progress in the present. Sadly, we seem to be a race who dwell in the past. This sorry state of affairs is further compounded by our disunity, our inertia to change and our utter lack of courage to question prevailing views. Accepting the present state of affairs and willingness to change ourselves can be the first step in this direction. Instead of waiting for that sarkari "chakuri", we can try our luck in private jobs or maybe open a small business or maybe far...

Reason Backwardness:Lack of Education

Join bishnupriyamanipuri.com On Google Buzz Are we backward? Here is the third response by S. Sinha from Guwahati on the survey " Is the Bishnupriya Manipuri a backward community? ". Socially: Yes Economically: Yes Politically: Yes Educationally: Yes We are under represented in Class I government services: Yes Views: The main reason behind this is due to lack of proper education. Our society is lagging behind in everything since educationally we are very poor. Most of the people of our communinty are not interested in pursuing highger education. Reasons may be poverty but if we are really interested we can solve every problem. Most of us are from villages/rural areas. If we are properly educated we can solve the problem of poverty; we will become more conscious about politics; with this, social sentiment will automatically grow amongst us.

Nobody in India knows us

Are we backward? Here is the second response by Dipen Sinha on the survey " Is the Bishnupriya Manipuri a backward community ?". Socially: Yes Economically: Yes Politically: Yes Educationally: Yes We are under represented in Class I government services: Yes Views: "In every respect we are backward." To support my opinion I will say "nobody in India knows us". For example, lets take randomly 1000 educated people and ask them "have you heard the word Bishnupriya Manipuri"? 99 per cent of them will say "No". By going through the above discussion YOU CAN EASILY JUSTIFY MY OPINION. Here I am not taking uneducated people into consideration because they never study newspapers, books and even don't pay attention to news bulletin too. What do you think about the backward issue?  Register your views. Today is Ninthoapa (Monday)

Kill Daladaly virus

Are we backward? Here is the first response by Indra Kumar Sinha from Guwahati on the survey " Is the Bishnupriya Manipuri a backward community ?". Socially: Yes Economically: Yes Politically: Yes Educationally: Yes We are under represented in Class I government services: Yes Views: Struggle for our self existance. We should have to develop ourself fit for every front with sincere effort and hard work in the fields of education, jobs, politics, culture and society; even in the field of agriculture as we are a microscopic soceity. We should have to educate and encourage our younger genaration particularly the student community to cope with the rapidly changing world scenerio in the field of technical and electronics etc. ignoring and forgetting the harmful viruses of the soceity i.e. " Daladaly , groupism, jealousy etc. without which it will be very difficult for us to make a place in the competitive fields. Let us start an exercise on our history

Wikipedia.org which is the primary source of information on the Internet and where volunteers collaboratively work on it, till few days ago didn't mention about the Bishnupriya Manipuri community in the web pages of ' Assam ', ' Cachar ', ' Hailakandi ', and ' Karimganj ' districts of Assam, and in the ' Northeast India ' page. It means the global online primary source is not updated and is not providing the complete picture. Now the question is: Can one draw a correct ‘social’ picture of Assam or Tripura in particular and northeast India in general without mentioning about Bishnupriya Manipuri community? No. One is talking about religion and demography in Cachar, Hailakandi, and Karimganj districts of Assam without dropping the name of the Bishnupriya Manipuri community, would it be correct? No. What is the solution? Participate in it. Become the wikipedia.org volunteer. Wikipedia.org runs on devoted volunteers. Bishnupriya Ma...

The Great Bishnupriya Manipuris

In 2010, let us take an initiative to know our forefathers who with their sheer devotion and selfless contribution given a shape to the present Bishupriya Manipuri community. It was interesting to know from Sushil Kumar Sinha through one of his comment here , how his Grandfathers “Dakula” Band Singha and Maitai Singha, fought with Muslims in the mouth of Dullabcharra bridge “Singla Chara River’ and saved Singla becoming the part of Bangladesh. Besides this, there are indeed many glimpses here and there in web, where we see, through comments, the people who have indeed shaped the Bishnupriya Manipuri community since time immemorial. They were people in the field of art, music, literature, society, politics, education, profession etc. Ashim Singha in Me and My Manipuri Things , bishnupriyamanipuri.org in the First Bishnupriya Manipuris list, and here in the bishnupriyamanipuri.com with few of the articles on living legends like Pt. Nilmadhab Sinha , Kunjo Sinha , have tried to encaps...
