Sree Sree Bhubaneshwar Sadhuthakur

By Shila Sinha Sree Sree  Bhubaneshwar Sadhubaba is the one and only enlightened soul of Bishnupriya Manipuri. His gracious appearance has bestowed a lot of blessings  on Bishnupriya Manipuri. Moreover, he is not only a spiritual leader but a social reformer too. His life history inspires everybody poor and rich, young and old, it is so simple and meaningful. His devotion and dedication towards Govindji has made  the mark in spiritual transcendental field, also helped our Bishnupriya Manipuri  community to get the recognition. His life was really amazing which is beyond our comprehension. Many miracles  happened in His life, so many deceased persons with leprosy and other diseases  got cured just by His touch or by His blessings. These unique incidences  transcend reasoning. Those wonderful occurrences are not apprehensible if they are not perceived. He was born in a small Bish...

Rath Yatra Festival

Shila Sinha Ratha yatra  is one of the greatest festivals of  the bishnupriya manipuris.  We Manipuris celebrate the occasion in the same manner as it is celebrated at Jagannath temple in Puri. It is here that the great saint of Bishnupriya manipuris  shree shree Bhubaneswar Sadhubaba  was blessed with  darshan  of  Lord   Vishnu . His ultimate desire of  nandan darshan  was fulfilled in the temple of Lord Jagannath of Puri, and so this temple is very dear to our people.                   It    is one of the most  spectacular and colourful festivals on earth. Everything is on a scale befitting the great lord. The occasion is full of spectacle, drama and colour. This festival is a typical Indian fair of huge proportions. It is also the living embodiment of the synthesis of the tribal, the folk ...

140th birth anniversary of Shree Shree Bhubaneswar Sadhu baba in Bangaluru

By Shila Sinha,  Bangaluru On October 25, 2009, the 140th birth anniversary of Shree Shree Sadhu baba Bhuvenaswar mahotsav was celebrated at a Krishna temple of Kormangla in Bangalore. I was lucky to be a part of this auspicious occasion. I was rather surprised to see so many families and enthusiastic young stars present over there. Before coming to Bangalore it was beyond my imagination that there would be such a big society of Bishnupriya Manipuri in this city which is the fastest growing city of information technology in India. I felt proud of my society. At the beginning of the occasion, puja was held. After that cultural programme started and it continued for sometime. Everything took place very smoothly and systematically. For that I must give thanks to a few enthusiastic, energetic and lively youths namely Prabal, Mrinal, Swapan, Santosh & all. They left ...

Untold pain, a poem by Shila Sinha

Untold pain By Shila Sinha Heard a shrill cry Heartbreaking unbearable That makes me perplexed Left me paralyzed with shock, And benumb with panic. That took away my breath Nostalgia veiled for sometime, But being the man of today Have to endure all the pain. Soul is stirred violently Awaken from the slumber. The feeling which was untold Become visible with hatred and agony That bursts into violence Causing vandalism, destruction of innocent life. Leading a road to ruin. There nobody can breathe peacefully Everywhere there is disbelief Sustaining everyone in unrest Tracing foe in friends But relentless struggle and violence Never precedes to peace Freedom without peace Bring life to a cease Waling and moaning Freeze our life for a while But never bring any great change. Life is flowing, so are we Yet to find the happiness That is ceased in the violence. Today is Erei (Friday) What next?

I remember you, a poem by Shila Sinha

I remember you By Shila Sinha I remember you At the wee hours of dawn. You evaded my memory As far as I rekon You were lost elsewhere, Among the cane stems, And swept out by the colours Like a flash of lightning. A dreadful dream Had left me numb, As I allow thoughts Of my existence to succumb. I feel our culture I feel our heritage Deeply rooted in my veins How can I go without them I remember you At the wee hours of dawn   I’m terrified, shocked  of A powerful blow of it Comes like a flow of lava From the volcano Yelling of the thousands Cannot be stopped That frightened me of the bloodshed I remember you At the wee hours of dawn. The language of poetry is heightened mostly by emotions. It concentrates meaning as a perfume concentrates different fragrances. We need poetry when life astounds us with losses gains or celebrations. Poetry is the language we speak in times of our greater need. Shila Sinha is a Bangalore-based te...
