ELITE OF SAVIORS

Ritwick Sinha Summer of ’69…Thunder and lightning…Max along with Ryan arrives in Drift Metropolis, India… “H e’s not your foe,” he said to me. “Who are you?” I asked. “Incognito,” he said. “The name sounds familiar,” I said as I withdrew my sword. “It should so. Max Swift” The utterance of his name left me awestruck. He was none other than my very own brother. “Bhaiyya?” I exclaimed. “You’re right”. “After 20 long years!” tears rolled down my eyes as I spoke these words. We hugged. “Your suit has totally changed, Bhaiyya,” I said, “It is awesome”. “Thanks. Your one hasn’t changed much. I suppose?” “Yes Bhaiyya. Just one or two screws here and there.” We chuckled. “Hey Ryan, get up. Don’t fear. He’s my brother,” Bhaiyya turned towards my presumed adversary and said. “He isn’t…” before I could complete, Bhaiyya cut me short saying, “Ryan. He’s Ryan Ray a.k.a. Titanio. My best friend.” “Oh” “Ryan, meet Alex alias Captain Quantum, my younger brother”, Bhaiyya intr...

Dawn of a new era

Ritwick Sinha I was waiting at the Los Angeles H-Station for the transport pods of the Hyperloop to arrive. They were arriving within five minutes.  After five minutes… So, the pods have finally arrived. I got into the SF6 pod. It was to leave ten minutes later. To kill time, I started playing League of Stars on my virtual gaming iconsole.  After ten minutes… An announcement was made that the pods were leaving in ten seconds. I put my gaming iconsole inside my suitpad. Soon, I was experiencing near to zero gravity as the pods started travelling. Since it would take 35 minutes to reach San Francisco, I decided to take a nap. After 35 minutes… I woke up and yawned and realised that I was in San Francisco. The other passengers had disembarked. I quickly took my suitpad and got out. I booked a taxi pod and set off for the Universal Institute of Technology and Space Research (UITSR). I showed my I-card at the entrance of the towering institute and went in...

A visit to Chennai

Ritwick Sinha Class VIII Don Bosco Sr. Sec. School, Guwahati It was 15 th of January, Wednesday, and my parents informed me that we would go to Chennai during our spring holidays. I jumped with joy and great excitement. We decided to go by train. Our reservation was made two months in advance. On the 16 th of March, Sunday, we reached the Guwahati railway station one hour before the departure time. It was to leave at 6.20 a.m. We got into a compartment and the train began to move after sometime. After a tiring journey that lasted for 48 hours, we reached the Chennai Central railway station on the 18 th of March, Tuesday. From there, we hired a taxi and went to a hotel. The next day, we first went to see the Chennai Snake Park. I saw a wide range of snakes such as adders, pythons, vipers, cobras and other reptiles there. The reticulated python looked really scary. Then we went to the VGP Golden Beach, located on the Bay of Bengal. It is a major tourist...

Back to the future

Children Corner - Ritwick Sinha,  Class-VIII,  Don Bosco Sr. Sec. School, Guwahati.  Year 3100 AD. India has completely changed from what it was some thousand years ago. I was in a place called Axemland, which I think was probably known as Assam long ago. I am not sure, as I had just reached this place with the help of a time machine. I was new to this place. I was one of the very few ‘complete humans’ here. All the others were a mix of humans and robots and called themselves ‘Robohumans'. They had prosthetic limbs. Their brains were more developed than the normal human brain. This combining of humans with robots could turn out to be the end of human life on earth. Then, as I walked down the road, I was stunned to see a skyline where each skyscraper was more than 2,000 metres tall. I also saw some flying cars, which the Robohumans called the ‘carocopters', and then I saw some passenger vehicles – all of which could fly! I also had a view of the ‘warp drive', ...

My loving parents by Ritwick Sinha

What makes my mother special The dearest person for me in this world is my mother. She is the soul of our home. My mother is special because she does not lose her temper, and is sympathetic. She is very kind, helpful and above all, she loves me like an angel, serves me like a nurse, and cares for me a lot. My mom always advises me to concentrate on my studies, and improve my behaviour. She helps me with my homework, especially when it comes to languages like Assamese and Hindi. I am lucky to have such a loving and affectionate mother. I am really proud of her. My dragon friend

By Ritwick Sinha , Class-V, Don Bosco Senior Secondary School, Guwahati One night, I had a dream that I was walking through a dense forest when suddenly, I saw a dragon coming towards me. I felt scared but the dragon did not try to attack me. Instead, he offered me his hand and grunted, “Will you be my friend?” I was surprised to see that he was a talking dragon who wanted to be friends with me. I immediately accepted his offer, and shaking hands with him, I said, “Yes, I will be your friend.” From that day onwards, we became friends. Then he asked me to sit down on his back to take me for a ride. Together, we went to many different places around the world. He also introduced me to his family and friends. I was very happy to meet them. He again gave me a ride on his back. On the way we found many enemies trying to attack us but my friend fought with them and won. He also showed me how he could breathe fire. We went to many other places and even there we found even more ferocious and f...

Late Dr. Bhupen Hazarika Sketch

Late Dr. Bhupen Hazarika sketch by Ritwick Sinha

“What will I be doing ten years from now?”

Every child has a dream to become successful in life. I want to become an Aeronautical Engineer and a Grandmaster in chess. After ten long years, I shall probably be in the third year of the Aeronautical Engineering course. After completing my course, I want to invent many new things that will help people in different ways. I would also raise India’s hopes in chess by winning many international tournaments. I shall also try my best to arouse popular interest in the game. With the blessings of the Almighty and my parents, I hope I will be able to fulfil my dreams. Mobile Phone

“Should students be allowed to carry Cell phones to school?” Ritwick Sinha Class-V Don Bosco Sr. Sec. School, Guwahati. Image:  http://www.engadget.com There are many positive and negative effects. Students can be in touch with their parents to know their whereabouts and students can easily reach their parents in case of emergency. But, in my view students should not be allowed to carry mobiles to school. Ringing tones and message alerts distracts the whole class. Even if a student sets his mobile phone in silent mode, he/she cannot pay attention to the lessons taught in the class. Students may also waste their valuable time by playing games in the mobile phones. As there is internet connection in the mobile phones nowadays, students may cheat in the exams. So, students should not be allowed to carry mobile phones to school.

Do movies have anything meaningful to teach us?

Children's Corner Ritwick Sinha , Class-IV, Don Bosco Sr. Sec. School, Guwahati. Cinema plays a very significant role in our lives. It teaches us many things. The most important use of cinema is its educative value. What cannot be taught through dozens of lectures and volumes of books can be taught through one movie show. No doubt, some good movies have a healthy impact on the youth and such movies create feelings of patriotism, help in national integration and uphold human values. But unfortunately, some people misuse this form of entertainment. Nowadays, they show violence in films, which does more harm than good. If used properly, cinema can be of great help to all people.

Happy Republic Day 2011

Ritwick Sinha, Class IV, Don Bosco Sr. Sec. School, Guwahati Happy Republic Day 2011

Welcome the lights!

Ritwick Sinha Class-IV, Don Bosco Sr. Sec. School, Guwahati In India, one of the most widely celebrated festivals is Diwali. The word ‘Diwali’ means ‘row of lights’! It is the festival of lights. Diwali is celebrated in the month of October/November every year. It is an exciting festival for the people of India. During this festival, people clean and decorate their homes. At night, the temples, homes, and shops are decorated with colourful diyas, electric bulbs and candles. Children love this festival and burn fireworks. But they should be careful while doing so. People share sweets with their friends and relatives. Schools, colleges and offices remain closed on this day. This festival is celebrated to mark the return of Lord Rama to Ayodhya, after an exile of fourteen years. Lord Rama came back to Ayodhya along with his wife, Sita, and brother, Lakshmana, after defeating Ravana, the demon king of Lanka. The people of Ayodhya welcomed their Prince back and decorated the entire...
