Message from Col. Bijoy Sinha(Retd.), Guwahati

I was aghast to hear that one of the self-claimed social worker has filed a case against 16 office bearers including the President of NBMM and also the President of the Sahitya Sabha. It is true and accepted fact that Nikhil Bishnupriya Manipuri Mahasabha is the sole representative organisation of the Bishnupriya Manipuri commnity. Therefore it is a fact that the President and the office bearers of NBMM are renowned and devoted social workers. The President of the Bishnupriya Manipuri Sahitya Sabha is also a true and responsible social worker. Surprisingly some of the remaining office bearers of the NBMM and BMSS are silent and have not condemned/protested openly against this injustice done to the society. Is there some malafied intention or some vested interest behind this? Recently there has been a lot of hue and cry on the leadership of NBMM President and his team. Should I assume that those people who are critical of the functioning of the President of NBMM and his team are also a part of this irresponsinble and condemnable act? If not, then why has this act not been strongly opposed? I also strongly suspect that this act has some link to the formation of the Bishnupriya Manipuri Development Council. Is it justifiable to bargain the honour of the social workers of the society in lieu of the petty issue of the BMDC? I think most of the self-claimed social workers are wandering aimlessly without any vision for the community. We must realize that living in a community and working in an organisation for all-round development of the society requires loyalty, integrity and spirit de corps. I wish that good sense will prevail upon the people who have been blinded by their lust for power and will guide them to the path of righteousness.

  1. Highly delighted to read Col. Bijoy,s depiction on the self claimed social, rather anti social workers. There are reasons for all the pandemonium taking place in our community. In last decade few crooks and impostors have emerged as leaders of the masses by luring unemployed youths with money and other illicit stuffs they had earned by deception. Some veterans who had been starved of money and authority even in their respective families also joined the gang. The envious character of these gangs made themselves bete noire to mankind and civilisation, henceforth started all these malicious activities.

BMDC was undoubtedly the brainchild of DR. D K Sinha, the President NBMM along with few profound associates. He legitimately deserved to be the chief of BMDC, despite he was kept aside with the help of some spiteful intra community  politics and hence the sudden emergence of a new messiah who himself is alleged with number of treachery and striving of power.

It has now become a must to teach these crooks a good lesson and there is a urgent need to bring them to books.

The 'Star' Krishankant Sinha of Space City Sigma

By RK Rishikesh Sinha, New Delhi It is a myth that the all-knowing Internet knows everything. One such myth relates to old television stuff aired on Doordarshan before 1990. Search in Google “Space City Sigma”, the search engine would throw up reminiscent results from the people who still long for those days. Those days were really golden days. Krishankant Sinha in the role of Captain Tara in Space City Singma For those who have watched Doordarshan some 15 to 20 years back, am sure they will have nostalgic memories of it. The days when possessing a now ubiquitous looking television set was a luxury. It was a neighbour’s envy product. It was a visual product to showoff, to flaunt that we have a television set . Those were the days when black and white, locked television was rarely found in homes. The days became immortal for teleserials like Ramayana, Mahabharata, Swami’s Malgudi Days (Ta-Na-Na-Na…), Ek-Do-Teen-Char (Title song: Ek do teen char, chaaro mil ke saath chale to ...

Bishnupriya Manipuri Development Council: Few Pertinent Questions (Part I)

By Rebati Mohan Sinha On last 25th March 2010 there was an announcement in the floor of the House that the Government of Assam has agreed on principle to form three separate Social Economic Development Councils for Bishnupriya Manipuri, Nath Yugi and Maimal. And now the Cabinet Committee has given its nod. It will be placed in the House (not yet placed) and once it is passed, then a Ministerial Committee would consult the stake holders i.e. these three communities, regarding their aspirations and would send its recommendation accordingly to the Central Government for further action within the next two months. The two months time since been elapsed, even then the bill is yet to show its face in the House. The Ministerial consultation is quite far away. Why am I repeating the same thing now is because of a section of Bishnupriya Manipuri started quarreling for the share of so-called power, from now on, without knowing the outcome of the development which is taking place in the...
