Bangladesh: Journalist Sangram Singha beaten up by fundamentalist, now in hospital

It seems the newly formed government in Bangladesh under Sheikh Hasina has not been able to nailed down the Islamic fundamentalist in the country, take this – a reputed senior reporter Sangram Singha, a Bishnupriya Manipuri, associated with a Bengali daily ‘The Daily Jugantor’ was abducted, and beaten up mercilessly while he was going to his office in Sylhet. 

Sangram Singha who is also associated with ‘ETV Sylhet’ was abducted when he reached at Tibbia College allegedly by cadres of the Moulabadi terrorist group. After taking him in their custody, they washed off their hands on him. 

At present he is admitted at Osmania Medical College for treatment. Bishnupriya Manipuri living in Bangladesh and abroad has condemned the attack on the journalist and has demanded to bring the culprits under the book. 

The news of the Sangram Singha’s abduction was carried extensively on the front page of newspapers published from Sylhet, Bangladesh. 

He was abducted on 9 January 2009 at 7 pm. 

It is a high time, we, the Bishnupriya Manipuri people of India and in abroad, should condemn the attack on him.

    I wish Sangram Singha's quick reovery and there should be action against those attackers, which wont be possible in the country like pakistan and bangladesh.

Bishnupriya Manipuri Development Council: Few Pertinent Questions (Part I)

And now the Cabinet Committee has given its nod.
