A retail store in the Titabor constituency of Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi
Definitely being the constituency of Tarun Gogoi, Titabor always remains in news and discussion, and has its own share of hogging limelight.

Now when election is round the corner in Assam, it is time to benchmark where your village/ town stand in comparison to Titabor.

About the constituency of Assam CM Tarun Gogoi, if you think it is like any other constituency of Assam, regrettably, it is not. What are the benefits people in the constituency are availing? The question is — where your constituency stands? What they got and what you have missed.

Roads: This is one of the first development parameter of progress. If your roads in your village/ town are kutcha and in rainy reason give a grave look; time to give a clarion call. One can see roads joining villages in Titabor are concrete under Prime Minister Gram Sadak Yojna.

Water: Villagers in Titabor are enjoying supply water. You read it correct, they are fetching supply water and that is in their homes.

Health: Like roads and water, health is another development parameter. The Titabor constituency has a civil hospital with ‘on-call ambulance service’.

Banks: Having a State Bank of India (SBI) branch is not enough. It must have ATMs situated at prime locations. Besides this, it must have other nationalized and private banks. Titabor has got all these.

Tourism: Titabor finds place in Assam’s tourism circuit, hitherto it doesn’t have as such booming tourism sector. If tourism has not been given serious thought and it has been undermined in your constituency, time to change your perception about your constituency.

Swimming Pool: This would be an eye-opener for many who think the luxury of having a swimming pool is limited to metro cities. The Titabor constituency has a swimming pool!

Parks: The concept of parks might seem alien to you. Titabor is equipped with well-laid parks. Though the constituency hasn’t seen metro-like living!

Electricity: This is the one area that it shares common to majority of Assam constituencies. Titabor also faces electricity problem.

By RK Rishikesh Sinha, New Delhi It is a myth that the all-knowing Internet knows everything. One such myth relates to old television stuff aired on Doordarshan before 1990. Krishankant Sinha in the role of Captain Tara in Space City Singma For those who have watched Doordarshan some 15 to 20 years back, am sure they will have nostalgic memories of it. The days when possessing a now ubiquitous looking television set was a luxury. It was a neighbour’s envy product. It was a visual product to showoff, to flaunt that we have a television set . Those were the days when black and white, locked television was rarely found in homes.
