Special Officer-In-charge for Linguistic Minorities (SOLM), Shri Upendera Tripathi, has stressed the need for pursuing more vigorously the Constitutional Safeguards provided to the Linguistic Minorities. This was stated in a press release released by Government of India on August 28, 2009.
Shri Tripathi announced that a 10-Point Programme is being prepared for helping Linguistic Minorities Safeguard their right to maintain the identity and propagation for their language. He also said that henceforth there will be regular meetings of Nodal Officers and Education Secretaries of States/UTs dealing with the Office of Special Officer Linguistic Minorities.
