New Delhi, July 28 – The northeastern states of India is endowed with natural and geographical potential and it must be tapped to the fullest in increasing trade and opportunities among Southeast Asian countries, said Yous Makana, Ambassador of Cambodia to India, in a summit here.
Speaking on a summit addressing the trade opportunities for the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in new markets of ASEAN and African countries, Makana said, “northeast of India is goldmine for generating electricity” and its geographical proximity to the southeast Asian countries should be looked into.
She welcomed the Indian small and medium enterprises to explore the Cambodian market for investment especially in the SME-intensive areas. She opined that Information Technlogy is one of the important sectors which can strengthen the trade between India and Cambodia.
“India should no longer forget Cambodia. India and Cambodia can strengthen their trade opportunities in Information Technology (IT)” and other possible areas, said Makana at the Economic Times organized event.
She reiterated her Government’s commitment in increasing export and import between the two countries by simplifying procedures.
The summit was attended by the Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Jyotiraditya Scindia. Foreign dignitaries from ASEAN countries, Government officials, SME associations and SMEs participated in it.
