Writers Forum decides seminar on Minor Languages of Assam to be held on Oct 4

In a meeting of the Bishnupriya Manipuri Writers’ Forum held in Guwahati on September 6, 2009, it was decided that a half-yearly magazine titled “Longlei” (meaning STORM) will be published and a Seminar cum workshop on the “Challenges Before the Minor Languages of Assam” will be organized on October 4, 2009.

The meeting, which adopted many important resolutions, also had discussions over the development and growth of the Bishnupriya Manipuri language in the rural and urban areas.

The forum decided to issue membership to people especially to youths who are sincere and have faith in the mission for the preservation and development of the Bishnupriya Manipuri language and literature.

In the discussion session “What I Feel About Poetry”, participants read out their self-composed poems and expressed their feelings on the topic. Ramlal Sinha, Assistant Editor, The Sentinel, said “Poetry is the expression of ideas whatever we feel about some incidents in our day to day life”.

Deepashri Sinha, Advocate, said “By Poetry I mean the expression of highest thoughts with best words”. Sharing his views Samarjit said, “Poetry is the collection of best words in a best way.” For Mrinal Sinha, “Poetry is the expression of best words in a best way”.

In an interaction by Lakshmindra Sinha, Chairman, Bishnupriya Manipuri Writers’ Forum, he emphasized on the need for poetry and termed it as the essence of life. “Poetry makes our life more humane, sensitive and pleasant. It nourishes tenderness in human soul, gives us energy and freshness to our life. Poetry is the expression of an intense feeling in a most condensed form,” he said.

Lakshmindra Sinha appealed to the youths to come forward for writing in mother tongue.

The participants remembered great Bishnupriya Manipuri poets Madan Mohan Mukherjee, Brajendra Kr. Sinha, and Senarup Sinha.

The meeting saw participation of Debashis Sinha, Ramendu Sinha, Anita Sinha, Rumi Sinha and it ended with the thanks giving of Santosh Sinha, Secretary, Bishnupriya Manipuri Writers’ Forum.

Being a Well Wisher of the Forum, I could not but to mention that the Forum also discussed about other important topics and one of them is "the Origin of Bishnupriya Manipuris & their existance at SOURCE in relation with THEIR present place of EXISTANCE where they born & die". The VIGILANT PEOPLE of our society should have to clerify this TOPIC oneday to the new generation. I think our reporter had skipped these issues alongwith the presence of few other young peoples in the meeting.

    2. I thank to Shri Sanjib Sinha for pointing out the topic discussed in the meeting which is not included in the main news above. As I have collected the main topics discussed in the meeting over phone, so some informations might have skipped from noting down as various issues were discussed in the meeting as informed by the information source.

      In addition to that after reading your comments, I confirmed from President of the forum about the presence of members. So, I feel regret that due to communication fault we failed to include your name in the members present in the meeting.

      So as a CORRIGENDUM, I want to add the following lines in addition to the news above-

      Shri Sanjiv Sinha, Treasurer of the Forum was also a participant of the meeting. He expressed his feeling about Poem that "The Poetry is the expression of any event with suitable words"

    5. The writers forum has been formed on 4th April 09 with the purpose to serve and fulfill the key objectives such as
      1.Documentation of folk culture...
      2.Collect,preserve and publish oral
      literatures......
      3.To coduct research.....
      4.To conduct workshop on translation......and so on,up to another 8 points.
      I feel myself very sorry to write
      something,being a well wisher, on the first meeting of the forum. It said the very meeting has discussed every important issues and taken resolutions accordingly; but nothing sort of that appeared in the news, except the head line 'Writers forum decides seminar on Minor Language of Assam' to be held on Oct.4th,and a)enrolment of members b)defination of poetry 3)Urge youths to write in own language 4)Remembering of few poets 5)Reading of poetries by poets present in the meeting.It seems to me,as if, it was a Kavi Sammelan.
      The forum is only five months old,and ready to host the All Assam seminar!really a big step.

    Undoubtedly, the accurate period of the emergence or the development of religious consciousness of the Bishnupriya Manipuri is difficult to ascertain, but it is an old one that is undoubted, writes Rini Sinha , Guwahati .
