In Chaprabari, a Bishnupriya Manipuri village near Majbat under Udalguri district in BTC, the Nikhil Bishnupriya Manipuri Mahasabha formed a branch committee on November 22. The meeting took place under the guidance of Anil Singha Gautam, Vice President of the Mahasabha central committee.
Simu Singha, Vice President of Assam state Sahitya Parisad appreciated the people of Chaprabari village for maintaining their cultural and linguistic identity despite a wide gap of communication with the mainstream Bishnupriya Manipuri community.
Anil Singha Gautam and advocate Bishnupratap Singha, General Secretary of Nikhil Bishnupriya Manipuri Mahasabha, Assam State Committee, assured the villagers to offer all kinds of possible assistance in retaining their cultural identities.
Sailendra Singha is appointed as President and Maipak Singha as Secretary of the newly-formed branch committee. The meeting was chaired by Sailendra Singha.
