  2. --JAI EMA BISHNUPRIYA--

In the senior persons nomenclature my father's name (Mr Basanta Kumar Sinha of Christianbasti, Guwahati)has not been included- why? He is also a senior person (Age-70 years) & definitely elder than Mr Sisir Sinha of Christianbasti whose name has been included.

It is my warm request to you (Mr Rishi) to get/send this information from the respective organizers.

  4. Thanks Ananta for your information. Your message has been informed to the organizers. They have noted your message and expressed their thanks for your information.

They have also clarified the criteria of selecting the Senior citizens from Guwahati for felicitation on 26th Nov’09 and limited to only certain numbers for this year. This year the organizers have selected senior persons from the age group of above 75 years and as exceptional cases, selected 2 senior persons (aged above 60 years) due to their serious illness for long time or bed-ridden, poor physical condition and other serious cause related to the person concerned (above 60 years) due to his/her old age which can be considered as an exceptional reason.

As informed by the organizers, Shri Sishir Sinha aged 69 years is seriously ill with a poor physical condition and was bed-ridden for long time in the recent past days due to a serious cardio-attack. Though he has recovered a little recently but still under medical treatment at home. So, the organizers had selected him as an exceptional case seeing his poor physical condition.

A person aged more than 60 years is considered as a Senior Citizen and in Guwahati such number of senior persons among Bishnupriya Manipuris may cross above 150numbers. So, this year the organizers have selected the above 31 listed senior persons only for felicitation. There are few more senior persons aged above 75 years left who are not included this year but their names are in the list for felicitation in next year. After completing selection from the age-group above 75 years and as per available number of persons, the criteria of selecting the age-group may be brought down below 75 years and above 60 years restricted to certain numbers in the forthcoming years as decided by the organizers.

Identifying senior citizens of the society, recognizing and felicitating them to give honour & respect is to be treated as ceremonial & auspicious and for senior persons who are not included in this year, the matter may please be not taken into sentiments or otherwise. The left behind senior persons will be included in the forthcoming years in groups as suitable for the organizers to organize such ceremony.

The step taken by the organizers to recognize senior citizens among Bishnupriya Manipuris may please be welcomed and appreciated.

Assam Search Engine: Bisarok

Exclusive search engine on Assam Manash Pratim Gohain, TNN Jun 16, 2012, 01.46PM IST NEW DELHI: Assam got its own search engine ' Bisarok '. The search engine has been launched to get results exclusively on queries and information related to Assam. 'Bisarok', means 'to search' in Assamese language, has been launched and has been linked to various websites of the Government of Assam and departments, educational institutions and media. The search engine is likely to give a new online experience related to searches on Assam. Built on Google custom search engine, the search engine would be collating and building a database of web properties exclusively of the state in the North East region. 'Bisarok' has been developed by RK Rishikesh Sinha, who had earlier created a similar custom search engine ('Bisarei') on Bishnupriya Manipuri. According to Sinha, apart from Google there was no link to get results particularly on Assam. Any web entity related...

The 'Star' Krishankant Sinha of Space City Sigma

By RK Rishikesh Sinha, New Delhi It is a myth that the all-knowing Internet knows everything. One such myth relates to old television stuff aired on Doordarshan before 1990. Search in Google “Space City Sigma”, the search engine would throw up reminiscent results from the people who still long for those days. Those days were really golden days. Krishankant Sinha in the role of Captain Tara in Space City Singma For those who have watched Doordarshan some 15 to 20 years back, am sure they will have nostalgic memories of it. The days when possessing a now ubiquitous looking television set was a luxury. It was a neighbour’s envy product. It was a visual product to showoff, to flaunt that we have a television set . Those were the days when black and white, locked television was rarely found in homes. The days became immortal for teleserials like Ramayana, Mahabharata, Swami’s Malgudi Days (Ta-Na-Na-Na…), Ek-Do-Teen-Char (Title song: Ek do teen char, chaaro mil ke saath chale to ...
