“BAITAAMIN” – Bishnupriya Manipuri Comedy Film releasing on 3rd October, 2010

By Pratibha Sinha, Guwahati
A full-length entertaining film “BAITAAMIN” is coming up for the public on 3rd October, 2010. “BAITAAMIN” is the first Bishnupriya Manipuri Comedy film (duration 2:50 hrs.) which will be released and screened by Chitrangada Musical Banner (CMB) at Silpagram, Panjabari (Guwahati) at 10:30 am on 3rd October, 2010.
As one can guess from the title of the film “BAITAAMIN”, which is mispronunciation of ‘vitamin’ by village folks, is a complete entertainment story set in the background of villagers’ interaction with different languages in their day-to-day activities. The film is packaged with a tickling the bone story directed by Hirendra Sinha. He has been assisted by Samar Sinha and Kanan Kishore Sinha (as Production Manager). Story Script and Lyrics is done by Hirendra Sinha. The film is produced by Malay Sinha.
Lead male actors in the film are Niranjan Sinha, Asutosh Sinha(Rabi), Kamal Sinha, Kanan Kishore Sinha, Samar Sinha, Pratyush Sinha(Apu), Dhruba Kalita, and in female lead roles played by Babli Mukherjee, Sarojini Sinha, Suporna Sinha, Sangeeta Sinha and Rita Sinha. Dils Lakshmindra  Sinha is in Guest   Appearance.

Hirendra Sinha and Samar Sinha are singers in male voice and Dhritideepa Barman is female play back singer in the film. Music is directed by Ahir Bhairav and film edited by Kuldeep Bora.
There will be two premier shows of the film on the same day the same venue – 1st Premier Show at 10:30 am and 2nd show at 03:00 pm. Moviegoers interested to watch the film may contact for more details at contact numbers – 9859558157, 9864106334, 9864033055, 9864106524 & 7399342459.
Interesting to note that in the past few years, Bishnupriya Manipuri video films and Music Audios/Videos have shown a proliferating growth despite having no economically viable market. Yet, high-spirited producers are coming up with one-after-another creation. Hope, in this experimental phase of Bishnupriya Manipuri entertainment, the movie Vitamin (Sorry “BAITAAMIN”!) would set a new trend and direction.

The 'Star' Krishankant Sinha of Space City Sigma

By RK Rishikesh Sinha, New Delhi It is a myth that the all-knowing Internet knows everything. One such myth relates to old television stuff aired on Doordarshan before 1990. Search in Google “Space City Sigma”, the search engine would throw up reminiscent results from the people who still long for those days. Those days were really golden days. Krishankant Sinha in the role of Captain Tara in Space City Singma For those who have watched Doordarshan some 15 to 20 years back, am sure they will have nostalgic memories of it. The days when possessing a now ubiquitous looking television set was a luxury. It was a neighbour’s envy product. It was a visual product to showoff, to flaunt that we have a television set . Those were the days when black and white, locked television was rarely found in homes. The days became immortal for teleserials like Ramayana, Mahabharata, Swami’s Malgudi Days (Ta-Na-Na-Na…), Ek-Do-Teen-Char (Title song: Ek do teen char, chaaro mil ke saath chale to ...

Bishnupriya Manipuri Development Council: Few Pertinent Questions (Part I)

By Rebati Mohan Sinha On last 25th March 2010 there was an announcement in the floor of the House that the Government of Assam has agreed on principle to form three separate Social Economic Development Councils for Bishnupriya Manipuri, Nath Yugi and Maimal. And now the Cabinet Committee has given its nod. It will be placed in the House (not yet placed) and once it is passed, then a Ministerial Committee would consult the stake holders i.e. these three communities, regarding their aspirations and would send its recommendation accordingly to the Central Government for further action within the next two months. The two months time since been elapsed, even then the bill is yet to show its face in the House. The Ministerial consultation is quite far away. Why am I repeating the same thing now is because of a section of Bishnupriya Manipuri started quarreling for the share of so-called power, from now on, without knowing the outcome of the development which is taking place in the...
