Gomnei gomnei!!!! O man I really miss that word; it has been ages since last heard that word. Over the years I tried to figure how this GOMNEI pops up in almost 75% of BM (Bishnupriya Manipuri) social conversations. Our univsal GOMNEI is a multi-purpose word designed with wide range of applications

Me: (Cutting nails on a saturday)

Mom: What the hell are you doing are you doing? Don't you know its Saturday. Its GOMNEI to cut nails today

Me: GOMNEI !!!??

Me: (Cutting nails on a sunday, 6:01 pm)

Mom: What the hell are you doing? Its already 6'O clock. Its GOMNEI to cut nails after 6'O

Me: GOMNEI !!!??

Me: (Cutting nails on a monday, 9:00 am)

Mom: What the hell are you doing? Its Monday and its your jonmobar. Its GOMNEI to cut nails on your jonmobar.

Me: GOMNEI !!!??

Me: (Cutting nails on a Thursday, 9:00 am)

Mom: What the hell are you doing are you doing? Its Thursday and its GOMNEI to cut nails on a thursday

Me: GOMNEI !!!??

These were my earliest experience with GOMNEI as a kid and I was beginning to think that GOMNEI had something to do with human nails. But I was wrong.

Two decades down the line, I have an encyclopedia on the wide range of applications on GOMNEI.

His fault-finders will, however, have a different view. His is a life totally devoted to poetry, and this is his first identity.
