NEWS Pratibha Sinha,Guwahati Geetiswami Gokulananda Janma Jayanti Udjapon Committee of Guwahati, Assam, is going to celebrate 113th birth anniversary (Janma Jayanti) of Geetiswami Gokulananda on November 29, 2009 (Sunday) at Shilpagram Auditorium (near Kalakhetra), Panjabari. NBMM appeals for democratic means to achieve community demands

NEWS  The Nikhil Bishnupriya Manipuri Mahasabha (NBMM) has called for democratic movement to achieve the longstanding demands of the community. The apex-body has demanded appointment of Bishnupriya Manipuri Language teachers as per the Government norms; inclusion of a Bishnupriya Manipuri member in the recently constituted Linguistic Development Board of Assam ; introduction of Bishnupriya Manipuri Cultural Programme in AIR & Doordarsan Kendras. It also demanded adding the community name in the Central list of Other Backward Class (OBC) and formation of a Development Council for overall development of the community. NBMM has condemned the baseless rumour perpetrated by the so-called students’ leaders of fake organizations.
