Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) incorporating IT products should always go for open architecture-based products and not for proprietary one, said Ravi Bharadwaj, General Manager, SMB, Dell India.
In addition, the MSME units should also consider energy and power factor while taking a decision on the adoption of Information Technology in their workplace, he said while speaking in a conference on 'How to Use IT Smartly: To Cut Costs and Win Markets' in New Delhi on September 4, 2009.
Explaining the future of cloud computing in the IT sector the world over, he said that by 2010, 80 per cent of the Fortune 1000 companies would switch over to the new concept “cloud”.
Now when the one-third of the SMEs are in the Asia-Pacific region and which is expected to grow to 500 million units by 2015, Ravi Bharadwaj said that the MSMEs shouldn’t go by the prevailing myths that IT is complex and expensive, rather it should embrace it as a “basic level of enabler”.
