Importance of Sri Sri Bhubneshwar Sadhu Thakur in one’s life (Part 2)

Who is a bonafide spiritual master? In this yuga first of all hardly any one interest in understanding the self, God and relation between God and living entity. Even if little interest comes they are devoured by so called cheating gurus. Actually those who want to be cheated they get cheating gurus. We consider spiritual life as if some sabzi mandi market where we bargain. So we generally reject those who are strict and adheres to regulative principle as mentioned sastras, rather we choose those guru who tell us do whatever we want to do, eat whatever, just pay this much to get mantra and chant this mantra, perfection will come. But all this are bogus. i) The bonafide guru should be from four authorised Vaisnav parampara. There are four bonafide Vaisnav sampradaya- The Sri Brahma Sampradaya whose Sampradaya Acarya is Sri Madhvacarya. The Sri Laksmi Sampradaya whose Sampradaya Acarya is Sri Ramanujacarya. The Sri Kumara Sampradaya whose Sampradaya Acarya is Sri Nimbarkacary...

Event of the People, by the People, for the People

Sri Sri Bhubneshwar Sadhu Thakur RK Rishikesh Sinha My visit to the celebration of Sri Sri Bhubneshwar Sadhu Thakur birth anniversary in New Delhi on 15 November 2015, I would say was the calling of Him. The celebration took place at Kali Mandir in Tilak Nagar, walking distance from the Tilak Nagar Metro Station. I said, the “calling of Him” the reason being that my little mind understood the very essence of Him in our life, that too of mine. Let me not stretch to that sphere.  The climate was beautiful since it had no itching of the summer and stiffness of cold. It was a very beautiful sunny day, the most pleasant weather that we in Delhi can wish for. The whole atmosphere at the venue was ‘Bishnupriya Manipuri’, with the chirping and whispering of the language, and the visual appeal of the women attire made everything of the great day. It was indeed a nice feeling meeting with known people like BN Sinha, Surajit, Ramanuj, Chinglang (he is from Jiribam, once a neig...

Importance of Sri Sri Bhubneshwar Sadhu Thakur in one’s life (Part 1)

Yesterday and day before yesterday many cities celebrated the avirbhav-tithi of great saint of our Bishnupriya Manupuri community Sri Sri Bhubneshwar Sadhu Thakur on a grand scale. We are quite fortunate that a great soul like him taken birth in our community and thus glorified our community by his mere presence. We Bishnupriya Manipuris are quite fortunate in this matter, as we are first of all Gaudiya Vaisnav, the follower of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, over and above that, great Krishna bhakta came in our community - sri sri bhubneshwar sadhu Thakur. Chaitanya mahaprabhu says “bhārata-bhūmite haila manuṣya-janma yāra , janma sārthaka kari' kara para-upakāra” ( CC Adi 9.41 ) - Anyone who has taken birth on the holy land of Bhāratavarṣa, India," janma sārthaka kari, "should make his life successful and work for the benefit of all other people. So we are so fortunate to have taken birth in holy land India and within that taken birth into gaudiya vaisnav Bishnupriya Manipu...

Entertaining and Nostalgic: Bhubaneswar Sadhuthakur utsav at Bangalore

By Namrata Sinha, Bangalore It’s sure ‘wow’ to the celebration that took place on the occasion of 142nd birthday of the “Holi Bhuwaneswar Sadhu Baba” at Bangalore. Huge round of applause to the organisers who have come to such an extent of delivering immense entertainment and nostalgia to each and every Bishnupriya Manipuries present there. The third year of the utsav was a tremendous success; I would rather say a step ahead from the past two years and hope that it matures in the years to come. Though there was no involvement and participation from my side in the celebration, I could manage myself to witness the grand utsav and I wish many more would have joined it .But nonetheless it was a stupendous achievement. The programme started with the opening speech of Mrs Sheela Sinha who is a versatile personality, I must say, she made the dormant crowd lively and caught the attention of each one of us very effectively. Her command over the languages — be it English or ...

I sang but failed to conquer

By Suroshree Sinha , Bangalore Shri Shadhu Thakur’s 141st Abhirab celebration in Bangalore was planned and put in place with lot of effort. The organizers had painstakingly chosen people to perform, arranged for good food and then made an effort to give away mementos to everyone present. The puja started on time with few punctual people, exclude me... I was late like a few others but at least I made it. There were many who did not even turn up for the event. The crowd was much less than what was there the last time. Performers arrived late and the entire program schedule went haywire. My program was scheduled at 3.45 p.m., I was relieved that I would at least get some time to practice once before I sang. I have done concerts for the BSF jawans, competitions, charity shows for under-privileged children but never had the chance to sing in our mother tongue. I wanted to be perfect, like the other numerous concerts that I had done earlier. Suddenly, I hear my name called out at 11.30. I ...

By  Jishu Sinha, Bangalore My first impression as I got to the precincts of the Sri Edneer Mutt at Sri Krishna Temple, the venue where the 141st birth anniversary of Sri Sri Bhubaneswar Sadhuthakur was celebrated on 21st of November, was “Wonder, this is indeed a fine work put up by the hard working members of the Bangalore Sadhuthakur Utsav 2010 Organizing Committee..” As one would expect, the element of piety, respect and the traditional touch associated with our revered holy saint – Sadhuthakur was very much on display. True to the spirit, the Bishnupriya Manipuri community in Bangalore responded in adequate measure which can also be gauged from the participating audience, almost 200 in number.
