Sadhuthakur Utsav in Bangalore

My first impression as I got to the precincts of the Sri Edneer Mutt at Sri Krishna Temple, the venue where the 141st birth anniversary of Sri Sri Bhubaneswar Sadhuthakur was celebrated on 21st of November, was “Wonder, this is indeed a fine work put up by the hard working members of the Bangalore Sadhuthakur Utsav 2010 Organizing Committee..” As one would expect, the element of piety, respect and the traditional touch associated with our revered holy saint – Sadhuthakur was very much on display. True to the spirit, the Bishnupriya Manipuri community in Bangalore responded in adequate measure which can also be gauged from the participating audience, almost 200 in number.

The celebration was a day-long program which started off early at 8 AM with the ushering of the “GOT” puja of Sadhuthakur presided over by Radhakrishna Aiga and his group. The aarti was a solemnly done and was followed by Prasad bitaran to all the attendees. The host for the day was Sheela Sinha who graciously conducted the cultural events of the day starting off with a well-delivered speech on Sadhuthakur and the relevance of his message to our Bishnupriya Manipuri community. 

Swapan Sinha and his group rendered a beautiful song on Sadhuthakur and to add to the gaiety atmosphere, the kids – Reya, Khushi, Seuli and Krishti presented some beautiful dance forms both in duet and solo format. Along with this, there were many renditions of Bishnupriya Manipuri songs by Sheela Sinha, Dr. Arunava Sinha, Lovely Sinha & Zarina Sinha, Manipuri dance by Sananda & Gautami, laughter show by Ramsingh and a few other fun activities. The bhoojan/bandaara was an elaborate affair and relished by one and all. The day concluded with a Bishnupriya Manipuri Ethnic Dress show by Sharmishtha & group.

However, the main highlight of the day was the unveiling of the Sadhuthakur website www.gobindabari.com which was painstakingly put up by Heera Sinha. For the uninitiated, this website is a dynamic virtual library of information related to our revered Sadhuthakur (requesting all to access this web link online and suggest/provide feedbacks). Thanks to Heera for this fine contribution!

As mementos, the organizers of the Sadhuthakur Utsav 2010 distributed diaries to everyone present in the celebration. The organizing committee of Sadhuthakur Utsav 2010 thanks each and everyone who made the Utsav a grand success.

A life devoted to poetry
