What is Liposuction? The term Liposuction is used to describe a procedure to remove extra fat deposits from specific areas of the body. It is to be mentioned that Liposuction is not a quick substitute for losing weight and should not be taken as one more measure to prevent weight gain.

In Liposuction, fat is taken away using a cannula, which is a hollow tube, and aspirator, a suction device. There are various mechanism of Liposuction: Suction-Assisted Liposuction (SAL), Ultrasound-Assisted Liposuction (UAL), Power-Assisted Liposuction (PAL), Twin-Cannula (Assisted) Liposuction (TCAL or TCL), External Ultrasound-Assisted Liposuction (XUAL or EUAL), and Water-Assisted Liposuction (WAL).

Suction-Assisted Liposuction (SAL) is the standard technique of Liposuction. In this process, cannula is inserted meticulously through the fat layer by making a small hole in the body. It causes breaking up of the fat cells which is by the suction is drawn out.

In the recent times, Laser Liposuction (also known as Smartlipo, laserlipo) is gaining popularity. In this technique, LASER energy is used to melt the accumulated fat.
