Newly elected Mahasabha Executive Members given oath on May 24 at Silchar

The combined oath taking ceremony of the newly elected executive members of the Mahasabha, and its Sahitya and Sanskriti Parishad, took place in the holy name of Radha Madhavjiu on May 24, 2009 at the Community Hall, Srila Bhubeneswar Sadhutakur Sevashram, Tarapur, Silchar, Assam.

The ceremony was performed by Sri Prangopal Mukherjee, the Gaddishwar of Ghaghrapar. He administered the oath of allegiance to Dr Debendra Kumar Sinha, the elected President of the Nikhil Bishnupriya Manipuri Mahasabha (NBMM). The President in turn administered the oath of confidence to all other executive committee members and the office-bearers of Sahitya and Sanskriti Parishad.

Sri Sri Bhubaneshwar Sadhu Thakur

By Ranita Sinha, Kolkata Sri Sri Bhubaneshwar Thakur, the great saint of the Bishnupriya Manipuri Community was born on 26th October, 1871, in a remote village of Cachar district called Baropua in the state of Assam. He was born to a Xatriya Manipuri family. His father Sri Sanatan Pandit was a Sanskrit teacher and mother Srimati Malati Devi, a house wife. Sadhu Baba from his childhood was indifferent to all worldly happenings. He was engrossed in chanting the name of Lord Krishna.
