Sri Sri Bhubaneswar Sadhuthakur remembered in Assam, Tripura

GUWAHATI, Oct 28: The 142nd birth anniversary of Sri Sri Bhubaneswar Sadhuthakur was observed Statewide by various mandir committees, cultural centres and socio-religious organizations of the Bishnupriya Manipuri community in Guwahati, Silchar, Jorhat and elsewhere in Assam and Tripura on Friday.

Two other organizations – Marup (an NGO) and Sri Sri Gobindabari baro Sadhuthakur Mandir at Kalitakuchi in Guwahati will also observe the birth anniversary of the great Vaishnab on October 30 with grand functions.

Sri Sri Bhubaneswar Sadhuthakur was a vaishnab who had attained salvation through his rigorous meditation. He was born at Baropoa village in Cachar district in Assam. The village was, however, was named after Sadhuthakur as Bhubaneswar Nagar later.

The birth anniversary was observed since Friday night with an overnight adhibas and concluded this evening at Bishnunagar at Christianbasti in Guwahati by the Manipuri Kristi Kendra, by Radhamadhab Sebashram at Maligaon, at Jorhat by Jagaran and at Silchar by the Sri Sri Bhubaneswar Sadhuthakur Mandir Committee and various other organizations. At the function by Manipuri Kristi Kendra, a Bhagwat path by Pandit Nilomoni Sinha and a lively discussion on the life and philosophy of Sri Sri Bhubaneswar Sadhuthakur were organized. The speakers who took active part at the discussion that was presided over by Radha-Madhab Sebapuja Committee president Sri Syamsundar Sinha, Brindaban, were litterateurs Sushil Kumar Sinha, Col (retd) Bijoy Sinha and Manipuri Kristi Kendra president Sri Manindra Sinha. It was followed by a cultural programme that was taken part by artistes like Bhajan singer Gautam Sinha, singer Ashutosh Sinha, budding talents Rahul Sinha and Bornita Sinha. This a part, drama directed by Rajkumar Sinha was staged.

On October 30 at Rudra Singha Sports Complex at Dispur Last Gate, a day-long function of Marup will be graced by many a prominent personalities like State Fisheries Minister Basanta Das as the chief guest, MLA Rihon Daimari, MLA Emmanuel Mushhaari, IAS Banamali Sinha (Tripura), Barpeta Xatra’s Burha Xatradhikar Sri Bashistha Debsharma, ISKON teacher Karuna Pati Das, Gaudiya Basihnav Sangha vice-president Sri Radha Kanta Das Adhikari, educationists Kumkum Sinha and Hemkanti Sinha, IFS (retd) Manindra Sinha, professor Dr Prabhat Sinha and others.

Prior to that, Marup’s flag will be hoisted by its working president Shyam Das Sinha. Forum inauguration of the NGO will be done by its president Badal Sinha and welcome speech will be delivered by reception committee president Ananda Sinha. Artiests like Khela Mukherjee, Rahul Sinha, Tuntun Sarma, Situ Sinha and others will perform in the grand cultural programme on the occasion.

At the October 30 function at Kalitakuchi, prominent personalities like former MLA Kartik Sena Sinha, educationist Kumkum Sinha, litterateurs DILS Lakshmindra Sinha, Hareswar Sinha Manab, and others will be seen. Noted dance Guru Haricharan Sinha and his students will be seen performing on the stage.
