Bishnupriya Manipuri artists performed in the Rising Day of 14 Bn BSF at Kailasaher

A troupe of Bishnupriya Manipuri music artistes led by Dr Sushanta Sinha showcased their talent on the Rising Day of the 14 Battalion of the Border Security Force, the world’s largest paramilitary Force, on April 1, 2009 at Rangrung Tea Estate, Kailasaher, Tripura. 

In the well-attended programme, civilians adjacent with BSF officials enjoyed the musical renditions by Kailasaher-based Bishnupriya Manipuri artists. They sung patriotic as well as oldie-goldie Hindi songs. 

The song “Aye Mere Watan Ke Logon…” sung by Nabanita Sinha where it swept the sentinels of the border into patriotic fervour; Babita Rajkumari with Bhupen Hazarika’s “dil hoom hoom kare …”, Subarna Sinha’s “O Maji Re…” , “Dolna Dolna…” by Aditi Sinha, were able to stole the show with their performance. 

Kuhali Sinha rendered the “Yada Yada Hi Dharmasya…” hymn, and BK Sinha read one of Rabindranath Tagore’s poem.

    Dear,
    I am really touched to read this piece of news, as I am a member of both. I m most probably the first Assistant Commandant (Direct Entry) in BSF, from our community.

    Assistant Commandant (direct entry) is Class A gazzetted Officer job of Central govt., selection for which is conducted every year by the UPSC. I am basically an Instructor of BSF. Every year, I hope of seeing some of my bishnupriya brothers in the training, but till date I have found none, though every year there is representation of Maities. With this forum I make a call to all my brothers to join this elite force, and bring glory to our mother land and Community of course.

    I joined as an Assistant commandant in 1993 and at present a Second-in-command at the age of 40 years.. If by the blessings of my Father and mother, and by the grace of God everything goes on smoothly, I may become a Commandant by 2011. if I am posted to my native place- kailashahar, Tripura, it will be certainly an icing on the cake.. If I can be of any help, pl do contact me i have filled in my detail in the ''let us locate ourselves''.

Assam Search Engine: Bisarok

Exclusive search engine on Assam Manash Pratim Gohain, TNN Jun 16, 2012, 01.46PM IST NEW DELHI: Assam got its own search engine ' Bisarok '. The search engine has been launched to get results exclusively on queries and information related to Assam. 'Bisarok', means 'to search' in Assamese language, has been launched and has been linked to various websites of the Government of Assam and departments, educational institutions and media. The search engine is likely to give a new online experience related to searches on Assam. Built on Google custom search engine, the search engine would be collating and building a database of web properties exclusively of the state in the North East region.
